The v-sides EP includes three tracks I made in January of 2022 using the BeatMaker 3 iPad app, released as a collection on May 1. “styles” samples the “Which Cup” loop from thricedotted’s 2021 Music Loop Variety Pack!, while “ching ching” samples the #11 loop from Hip Hop Makers‘ “Free Synth Sample Pack.”

The track for “styles” was created January 16, 2022 with the BeatMaker 3 iPad app, using the “Which Cup” loop from thricedotted’s 2021 Music Loop Variety Pack! Additional audio and video compiled from: A 1965 interview with Bruce Lee, his 1971 appearance on The Pierre Berton Show, and the “Obstacles in the Way” episode of the Bruce Lee Podcast, featuring Shannon Lee. The videos for both versions of “styles” were created January 17 using Premiere Pro and After Effects.

The track for “log boy” was made January 24, 2022 using the Beatmaker 3 iPad app, while the video was edited in Premiere Pro, using a childhood memory (“The Log Driver’s Waltz”) blended with Quebec archival logging footage.

The track for “ching ching” was made January 19, 2022 using the Beatmaker 3 iPad app, sampling the #11 loop from Hip Hop Makers‘ “Free Synth Sample Pack.” The video was edited in Premiere Pro, using segments from Wonder Showzen (clip one/clip two) and BBC Four’s Newswipe with Charlie Brooker, featuring Doug Stanhope. The secondary beat video was created in After Effects.
