B-Real “Smoke and Mirrors”
Published in Prefix Magazine, The Blog. Tags: Music.
Some 20 years after the formation of Cypress Hill B-Real has struck out on his own, offering up Smoke and Mirrors as his long-awaited debut solo release. While the lead credits neglect mention of the legendary group, the core of the album suggests that the MC is well within the formula that has placed Cypress Hill amongst the all-time elite of hip hop greats. Whether it be the smoked out “Fire” or the street-hustler’s anthem “Get Dough,” Smoke and Mirrors solidifies B-Real as an MC who is most comfortable amongst familiar surroundings. The album features guest appearances from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Damian Marley, Kurupt and Too $hort.
