Matt & Kim vs. Beastie Boys mashed by DJ STV SLV

If there’s one thing that can still be said of the Beastie Boys that is as true now as it was when they were at their commercial peak, it’s that they are as much fun to watch as they are to listen to. I had the privilege of seeing Matt and Kim this past December and the exact same can be said of the perky Brooklyn duo.
If there was a single moment throughout the performance where Kim Schifino didn’t have a grin on her face that extended from ear to ear, I didn’t see it. Likewise, if there was a moment when Matt Johnson wasn’t spastically pounding on his keys, standing on his stool or provoking the crowd to become more engaged than they already were–I must’ve had my back turned.
Point is, in the case of both Matt and Kim as well as the Beastie Boys, the personalities of the bands’ members leaks through to the music, each group offering a variety of songs that convey more energy than should be humanly possible. I urge you to see Matt and Kim if you haven’t already, and if you have you’ll likely agree with my sentiment that they’re one of the most enjoyable live acts you may ever seen. And if you’ve seen the Beastie Boys live or have checked out one of their DVDs, you know that even as they grow a little older, they still remain one of the most active live bands (after all, they do play instruments) around. Combine the two, and you’ve got a match made in a caffeine junkie’s heaven. (Link)
