Murs, Slug & Aesop Rock get their cake on

To express anything remotely resembling a slanderous shot at Rhymesayers is typically grounds for an ass-kicking in the Twin Cities. And if you take that one step further and talk smack about Atmosphere, you might as well start shutting down your Facebooks and your MySpaces, because some serious hate is coming your way. Even when taking all of that into account though, one can’t help but be underwhelmed by what’s being released in preparation for Slug, Murs & Aesop Rock‘s forthcoming Felt 3 release. Yeah. I said it.
Announcing that the album would be a tribute to Rosie Perez didn’t exactly prime fans for excitement (Want to shock the world? Two words: Shania Twain). And now dropping a mediocre preview video that eventually deteriorates into Slug talking about how much “fun” the recording experience was sets the bar even lower. A wise man once said, “You can put a cat in an oven, but that don’t make it a biscuit.” Thus far it’s looking like you can put three brilliant artists together, but that don’t mean they’re going to create anything good.
